Dumfries Ladies 1s stepped out against Rottenrow Bluesox on Saturday for the second consecutive weekend. Despite a convincing win against them last weekend Dumfries were under pressure in the first quarter, taking some time to find their shape and form. There were several penalty corners against which the Dumfries defence manage to hold off ending the first quarter 0-0.
The second quarter saw a more settled Dumfries side and they were rewarded a minute before the half time whistle with a goal struck home by Tori Barbour.
The third quarter was dominated by Dumfries with most of the play in the attacking half. Tori was unlucky not to score a Penalty Stroke due to a consistently strong performance from the Rottenrow keeper.
In the final quarter Dumfries continued to dominate. A defence splitting ball from Bex Topping was picked up by Tori who struck at goal. Jen Law pounced on the rebound off the keepers pads and her persistence saw her push the ball over the line to secure the win 2-0.
Oppositions Player of the Match went to Beth McCall.
A big thanks to both umpires and the childminders at the side!
